Emotionally-loaded Visual Stimuli to Alter Brain Arousal: A Flicker Fusion Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Human brain performance and arousal are still challenging critical, especially in environments such as power plants. Since different emotions common daily work life have inevitable effects on cognitive performance, it is important to evaluate whether emotional interventions can alter arousal. Poor control room operators (CROs) lead mental fatigue affect their emotion regulation. To address this issue, flicker fusion frequency (FFF) was employed a simple reproducible surrogate index for fatigue. Objectives: This study aimed investigate emotionally loaded visual stimuli (brain fatigue) or associated with regulation (CER) ability. Methods: Flicker assessed by RT-961, the International Affective Picture System (IAPS) adopted picture database of stimuli. Additionally, Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) used determine participants’ CER Twenty volunteer CROs from Fars Combined Cycle Power Plant participated study. After completing CERQ, they were at 2 time points (ie, before after presenting stimuli). 20 times each round, average recorded. Emotionally images considered The sets classified based levels valences, yet presented random order. Subjects exposed image 5 seconds (30 minutes total). Results: mean age 39.55 ± 7.02 years. first second FFFs 42.15 3.90 41.96 3.98 appropriate group 42.82 3.59 42.26 4.07 inappropriate group. Based statistical tests, there no significant relationships between measurements (P > 0.05). Conclusions: Control may positively maintain during specific when intervention lasts less than 30 minutes. Considering prolonged working hours industries (roughly over 8 day) importance aptitude preventing work-related errors, we propose line research gain momentum.

Visual experience can substantially alter critical flicker fusion thresholds.
Studies of psychopharmacology often use the test of the critical flicker fusion (CFF) threshold as a measure of total information processing. It is true that studies of practice effects have shown that CFF thresholds are remarkably stable within and across multiple days of testing. This study confirms that subjects who undergo CFF testing on sequential days have stable thresholds, but also demo...
متن کاملAn fMRI study of human visual cortex in response to spatiotemporal properties of visual stimuli
ABSTRACT Background: The brain response to temporal frequencies (TF) has been already reported, but with no study reported for different TF with respect to various spatial frequencies (SF). Materials and Methods: fMRI was performed by 1.5T GE-system in 14 volunteers during checkerboard, with TFs of 4, 6, 8 and 10Hz in low and high SFs of 0.5 and 8cpd. Results: Average percentage BOLD signa...
متن کاملAnticipation of emotionally aversive visual stimuli activates right insula.
Understanding the neural substrates of anticipation is required for a comprehensive model of the ways in which anxiety influences information processing. While it is apparent that the insula and medial frontal cortex are involved in processing anticipation of physical (i.e., painful) stimuli, their role in processing anticipation of aversive affective stimuli has yet to be determined. Twenty-ei...
متن کاملPreparing to Grasp Emotionally Laden Stimuli
BACKGROUND Contemporary theories of motor control propose that motor planning involves the prediction of the consequences of actions. These predictions include the associated costs as well as the rewarding nature of movements' outcomes. Within the estimation of these costs and rewards would lie the valence, that is, the pleasantness or unpleasantness of a given stimulus with which one is about ...
